Bob Schultz - Bio
Bob's Bio
A performer since his early years, Bob has a unique voice and a pure and simple style for the material he chooses. Not one to fall into a category of commercial appeal, he looks for material that best relates to his own experiences. The passion he evokes in a performance is nothing more than a desire to put his heart on the line, each and every time he sings a song.
Born and raised in the midwest, and with his parents both music lovers, he has a wide range of styles and genre's to draw from. Blues, jazz, soul, country, or swing, all seem to fit his particular approach. Reflection on the past is always a part of his music and love of it's melodic simplicity. A story or message is usually part of the equation and helps to make a song come to life.
The piano and saxophone are the instruments Bob uses tastefully at his live engagements. With the help of recorded tracks he spends hours on in his home studio, the over-all effect is similar to hearing him with his eight piece group, "BIGFOOT BOB & THE TOE TAPPERS" except of course not as free form or spontaneous.
The reason for working a solo venue is obviously the fact that most small clubs and retaurants can accommodate a single without too much loss of seating. It's also less likely to overpower the audience with volume and offers the musician the intimacy larger rooms sometimes lack.
If you've never seen Bob with his group or by himself, take the opportunity to see and hear him perform live, in person, andd judge for yourself. By the way, he loves to play and it shows!
